New Bridge

I just made a new bridge for the goblin guitar shown above. The bridge is designed to allow installation of a pickup in the bridge itself.

If you'd like to see how this went together, click here.

Aren’t some of the string vibrations lost when using a Bridge for cigar box guitars using an Altoids lid? Wouldn’t there be more vibrations transferred to the soundboard if there was a larger contact area? Does this give it a dobro sound? Could a pickup be placed under the lid?

Lost Vibe?: This does a surprisingly good job of transfering vibration to the soundboard.

Contact Area: A larger contact area would allow better transfer of handling noise from the box to the pickup under the bridge (a common problem with CBGs), which I'm trying to avoid.

Dobro Sound?: I expected a dobro sound, but it's really not there - at least not very strongly.

Pickup: The next step for this one is two piezo pickups attached to the bottom of the lid. An electromagnetic (electric guitar) pickup under the lid should also work (I put one in a Sucrets box bridge on another instrument and it worked find), but I don't want to cut a big hole in the top of this guitar.
